Sassy needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?
Loves toys, other dogs, cuddling and playing. Silly, cute, playful, friendly, awkward, loving. There are so many wonderful things to tell you about our beautiful Sassy girl. In the time that we have had her, she has made some amazing, positive changes. Back in November of 2016 Sassy was found in a puppy mill dump on Drew Palmer Road. Unlike some of her fellow puppy mill mates, Sassy did not suffer any physical damage. When Sassy was captured, she was very scared and nervous around people. After a few months at the Texarkana Animal League she started to progress. Sassy would play with her new friends (human and canine) and she learned how to use her puppy pads or wait until she was let outside to go potty. One day one of the kennel volunteers noticed that Sassy started to decline in her enthusiasm. Instead of playing outside with her friends, she quickly went back into her kennel. Not only did she rush to get into her kennel, but she would go all the way to the back and just sit there. The kennel volunteer decided that Sassy needed to be in a home in order to thrive so she offered to foster sweet Sassy until she got adopted. Sassy's first night in her new foster home was super fun! The picture you see of her with the big smile is from that night. She was so excited to play and jump around. She introduced herself to all the other dogs there and did great! Sassy soon was learning what is was like to be a regular dog. She got used to the routine of going outside to go potty and to go to her crate when her foster mom gave the cue to do so. Today Sassy is doing what dogs do, she barks at the squirrels, and runs around the yard with all her might. There are still moments in Sassy's life where she feels scared and reverts back to her shy scared self, in these times her foster mom lets her have her space, but makes sure she knows how much she is loved. She gets extra attention, extra hugs and extra loves when she starts isolating. Sassy's foster mom reports that it has been beautiful to watch Sassy grow with each new milestone. If you have ever wanted to make a difference in a dogs life, Sassy is your girl. Being rescued gave Sassy a chance to have the life every dog deserves. If you have questions, we will put you in touch with her foster mom. #adoptdontshop
